Afraid of Bats, Pirates, and Meteors

Over the past few months, our 4 year-old Ginny has had a few fears.

The first was the fear of bats coming to suck her blood. She came in from a backyard tent campout once from this one, but the next time she faced her fear and slept out there with us all night.

While driving home from visiting Montana she was afraid to fall asleep, because pirates might come and steal her blanket.  She was legitimately concerned, and I’m not sure where that one came from.

This week she told Lauren she was worried about a crater coming to crash into our house.  When asked why she said, well a meteor is what came and killed the dinosaurs, so it could happen again.  She loves to watch the Land Before Time, Dinosaur train, and Dino Dana on Amazon, so things that threatened dinosaur hit close to home.

I like the quote by Thomas S. Monson: “All men have their fears, but those who face their fears with dignity have courage as well.”
